A film készítői, Francis Farrell és Olena Zashko egy csoport ukrán katonaorvost követtek, akik a háború sújtotta Ukrajnából Svédország erdeibe utaztak egy rövid mentális elvonulásra.
Oroszország 2022-es inváziója óta ezek az orvosok súlyos sérültek és halottak végtelen sorával találkoztak, ami komoly terhet rótt a mentális egészségükre. Bár a pszichológiai jóllétük létfontosságú volna, legtöbbször elhanyagolják azt, így magukra maradnak egy láthatatlan csatában.
Mivel 2022 óta először találták magukat békés, nyugodt környezetben Svédországban, lehetőségük nyílt arra, hogy feldolgozzák a felgyülemlett traumát, és beszélhessenek harcostársaik elvesztéséről, az orosz fogságról és a bennük lakozó elkerülhetetlen bűntudatról, amiért nem tudták megmenteni az általuk kezelt katonák egy részét.
Az elvonulást a Repower civil szervezet szervezte. Az ukrán főparancsnokságtól kapott példátlan engedélynek köszönhetően a Repower orvosok csoportjait viszi el mentális egészségügyi elvonulásokra Svédországba, Dániába és Spanyolországba. A szervezet 2023-as megalakulása óta 755 katonaorvos vett részt a programban.

Francis Farrell (Kyiv Independent) ausztrál származású riporter. Miután a Leideni Egyetemen és a University College London-ban a posztszovjet térségre összpontosítva politikatudományt és nemzetközi kapcsolatokat tanult, Ukrajna orosz inváziója után kezdett újságíróként dolgozni. A Kyiv Independent-nél Francis munkája a harctéri eseményekre összpontosít; helyszíni fronttudósításokkal, szélesebb körű katonai elemzésekkel és a háború civilekre gyakorolt hatásaival foglalkozik.
Olena Zashko a Kyiv Independent videós munkatársa. Nyolc éve dolgozik újságíróként, főképp dokumentumfilmes projektekkel foglalkozik, többek között az orosz-ukrán háború frontvonalából.

The film’s makers, Francis Farrell and Olena Zashko, followed a group of Ukrainian military doctors who travelled from war-torn Ukraine to the forests of Sweden for a short mental retreat.
Since Russia’s invasion in 2022, these medics have encountered an endless stream of severely injured and dead, which has taken its toll on their mental health. While their psychological wellbeing would be vital, they mostly neglect it, leaving them to fend for themselves in an invisible battle.
Finding themselves in a peaceful, tranquil environment in Sweden for the first time since 2022, they had the opportunity to process the trauma they had accumulated and talk about the loss of their comrades-in-arms, their Russian captivity and the inescapable guilt they felt for failing to save some of the soldiers they had treated.

The march was organised by the NGO Repower. Thanks to an unprecedented authorisation from the Ukrainian High Command, Repower takes teams of doctors on mental health retreats to Sweden, Denmark and Spain. Since its creation in 2023, 755 military doctors have participated in the programme.

Francis Farrell (Kyiv Independent) is an Australian-born reporter. After studying political science and international relations at Leiden University and University College London, focusing on the post-Soviet region, he began working as a journalist after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the Kyiv Independent, Francis’ work focuses on events on the battlefield, covering front-line reporting from the field, wider military analysis and the impact of the war on civilians.
Olena Zashko is a video contributor for the Kyiv Independent. She has been working as a journalist for eight years, mainly on documentary projects, including from the front lines of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
